Read-only script, report the next business day

Find out what state your Oracle database is in.

You run one read-only script.
The next business day you get every finding ranked by risk, each with a suggested fix, and we go through it with you on a call.

What we check

What the script reads

What the report covers

  • Backups and archive log space: when the last good backup ran, and how long the space lasts
  • Space growth per tablespace, and when each one fills up
  • Invalid objects, failed scheduler jobs and errors in the alert log
  • Security basics: default passwords, password profiles and powerful grants
  • Optimizer statistics that are missing or out of date
  • Patch level, compared with Oracle's latest release update
  • Extra-cost options in use, from DBA_FEATURE_USAGE_STATISTICS

What it does not do

  • Does not use any extra-cost option or management pack.
  • Does not read table data.
  • Does not use AWR, ASH or the SQL Tuning Advisor (Diagnostics and Tuning Packs).
  • Makes no changes; your team tests and applies the fixes, patches included.
  • The options list repeats Oracle's own usage record.
    It is not licence advice.
How it works

Three steps

Step 1

Run the script

A read-only database user runs one script and sends us its output file.

Step 2, next business day

Get the report

Every finding ranked by risk, with what it means and a suggested fix.

Step 3

Go through it together

A call to walk through the report.
Your team then tests and applies the fixes.

Questions

Before you ask

Does the script change anything?No.
It only reads Oracle's data dictionary and performance views, as a read-only user.
Does it read our data?No.
It reads settings, sizes, statistics and logs, never the rows in your tables.
Could it put us in breach of our Oracle licence? No.
Everything it reads comes with every Oracle licence; nothing needs the paid Diagnostics or Tuning Pack.
Do you apply patches?No.
We report the patch level and what is missing; your team applies patches.
Which versions?Oracle 19c and later.
For older versions, ask us first.
